Questions

What does Mu do?

Mu adds a little friction to X’s infinite scroll. You set a daily scroll-distance limit. As you move down into new territory on X’s Home feed, scrolling gradually slows. At your limit, a soft rubber band and a gentle reminder help you stop. Scrolling up and revisiting what you’ve already seen on the current page are free.

Which pages does Mu affect?

Only X’s Home feed: the For you, Following, and pinned list tabs. Profiles, search, and threads scroll normally. Mu does not run on other websites.

Where do I change my limit, reset hour, or units?

Open Mu’s popup from your browser toolbar, or its settings page. Both let you choose your daily limit, slowdown, reset hour, and preferred units. Pin Mu to the toolbar to keep it within reach.

How do I turn Mu off?

Use the switch at the top of Mu’s popup or settings page. Mu pauses until you switch it back on. You can also disable or remove the extension from your browser’s extensions page.

How do I reset today’s distance?

In Mu’s settings page, choose Reset today. This clears the current period’s distance and keeps your lifetime totals.

How do I delete all of my data?

Everything Mu records stays in your browser’s local extension storage. Removing the extension deletes it, or you can clear Mu’s local extension storage through your browser. Resetting settings to defaults does not erase your statistics. The privacy policy has the details.

Does keyboard or scrollbar scrolling count?

Yes, they count toward your limit, but only mouse-wheel and trackpad scrolling is gradually slowed. Mu is built for desktop browsers.

Where can I get Mu?

Mu is a Chromium extension. Once published, it will be listed on the Chrome Web Store, and its source is on GitHub.
