Mu privacy policy

Effective date: October 6, 2026. Applies to the production Mu browser extension, version 0.1.0.

Mu helps you put a daily limit on scrolling X’s Home feed. Its production extension processes data on your device and does not send that data to the developer or third parties. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking SDKs, or remote executable code.

Data Mu uses

Mu saves your settings and scroll-distance totals in your browser’s local extension storage. Settings include whether Mu is enabled, your daily distance limit, slowdown preferences, reset hour, units, gauge visibility, and focus-tab preference. Statistics include distance totals for the supported site, grouped by local date and hour, and lifetime totals. These records are associated with the supported site’s name, not your X account.

To apply its features, Mu observes scrolling input and position, checks the current page address and browser navigation state, and inspects page elements and interface labels. It uses this information to recognize X’s Home feed, respond to feed changes, draw its gauge and limit effect, and hide the in-page back button in eligible fresh tabs. It does not save post text, messages, account names, passwords, cookies, or a list of visited page addresses.

Storage, use, and sharing

Mu uses these data only to provide its scrolling controls, settings, and distance displays. Extension records are stored locally using chrome.storage.local; Mu does not use browser cloud sync for them. The production extension makes no outbound network requests of its own. Your normal use of X, your browser, extension stores, and any website you visit remains subject to those services’ policies.

Mu does not sell, transfer, or share extension usage records, use them for advertising, or make them available for the developer to read. Mu’s use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and control

Mu keeps up to 400 recorded daily buckets, recent hourly buckets covering approximately 48 hours, and lifetime totals. Pruning occurs when new distance is recorded; old records can remain when Mu is not used. Settings and lifetime totals persist until the extension’s local data is cleared.

You can turn Mu off and change its settings in the popup or settings page. Resetting today’s distance removes the current period’s distance without deleting lifetime totals. Resetting settings to defaults does not erase your statistics. To delete all extension records, remove the extension or clear its local extension storage through your browser. Browser profiles and system backups may be subject to your browser or backup provider’s separate retention behavior.

Support and changes

Support contact: support@zinger.zone.

If you choose to contact support, the contact provider processes your message under its own policy. Do not include passwords or private X messages. This policy will be updated if Mu’s data handling changes.
